MEO CLASS IV

  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • 4-Year Degree Course in Marine Engineering

Eligible Criteria for Marine Engineer Course (4 Years)

  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • Candidate can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course provided he has passed 1st year training from the Alternate Training Scheme, approved by D.G. Shipping (This will not be applicable to MERI.)
  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • Candidates can join 2 year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 1st year from the Engineering College in other streams like Mechanical or Electrical approved by AICTE with minimum 60% average marks.
  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • 2 1/2 Years course for Marine Engineering under Alternate Training Scheme
  • Minimum 55% of aggregate marks in last year of Diploma Course and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • Candidates can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 3 years Diploma Course in Mechanical / Marine / Electrical / Electrical and Electronics, from the colleges approved  by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education

OR

  • Minimum 55% of aggregate marks in last year of Diploma Course and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • Candidates can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 3 years  Diploma Course, in addition to the three years regular Diploma Course in Mechanical/ Electrical /Electrical & Electronics Engineering, in following categories, from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education

Electrical Engineering Stream : Electrical Power System

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Stream : Digital Electronics / Electronics and Communications/ Electronics & Telecommunication / Industrial electronics / Electronics / Electronics Production & Maintenance / Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Control

Mechanical Engineering Stream : Automobile / Machine Tools and Maintenance / Plant Engineering / Production  Technology / Production Engineering / Advanced Diploma in Tool and Die Making

[Note : The candidates in this category are not eligible for exemption in the examination of Applied Mechanics and Heat Engine subject of Part ‘A’ MEO Class IV and Class II of Certificate of Competency Examinations.]

OR

  • Minimum 55% of aggregate marks in last year of Diploma Course and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • A candidate can join 2nd year of 4 Year Marine Engineering Degree course who have passed 4 years  Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education

OR

  • Minimum 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • Pass Diploma in Mechanical / Marine / Naval Architecture / Electrical / Electrical and Electronics Engineering with minimum 50% of aggregate marks in last year of Diploma Course

• Minimum 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
• Graduation in BE (Mechanical) Engineering / Naval Architecture with minimum marks of  50% in final year (Degree Exam)
• 1 Year Marine Engineering Course for Graduates [GME]

OR

• Minimum 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
• The candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical and Automation  Engineering after attending a course of 4 years duration from an UGC recognized university and or approved by AICTE, with a minimum marks of 50% in the final year. These candidates will  not get full exemption from MEO Class IV and MEO Class II Certificate of Competency Exam but require to appear and pass the “Heat Engines” written paper of MEO Class IV Part ‘A’ CoC Exam and “Thermodynamics & Heat Transmission” written paper of MEO Class II Part ‘A’ CoC Exam
• 1 Year Marine Engineering Course for Graduates [GME]

MEO CLASS II

  • CoC as MEO Class IV
  • 12 Months sea service including 240 days propelling time

MEO CLASS I

  • CoC as MEO Class II
  • Sea service of 12 months after obtaining MEO Class II CoC on ships of power 3000 kw or more
  • Sea service 36 months after obtaining MEO Class IV CoC
  • The duration of 36 months will be reduced to 30 months, if 12 months served as 2nd Engineer Officer of ships of power 3000 kw or more as appropriate for Motor / Steam in the Engine Department or Pro Rata
  • The propelling time must be atleast two thirds of the corresponding sea service period

ETO (Electro Technical Officer)

  • 8 Months Experience on ship as Trainee / Assistant Electrical Officer
  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • 4 Months Pre Sea Course required

Sea Service

  1. 2007 – 2011 : 12 Months (Eligible for ORAL Only)
  2. 2007 – June 2013 : 12 Months with Bridging Course for existing Electrical Officer (Eligible for ORAL Only)
  3. Not Complying above two, 12 Months till Dec 2015 with 4 Months Pre Sea Course (Eligible for both WRITTEN & ORAL Only)
  4. Not Complying above three, For Ex Navy Candidate (Eligible for both WRITTEN & ORAL Only)
    1. 30 Months in Indian Navy (on their Sea Service Extract)
    2. 6 Months Sea Service in Merchant Navy
  • 60% in Diploma / Degree including lateral entry;
    • Electrical Engineering,
    • Electronics Engineering,
    • Electrical and 
    • Electronics Engineering,
    • Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or
    • Electronics and 
    • Instrumentation or equivalent

DECK DEPARTMENT

NCV NWKO

  • 10th Pass certificate with minimum 50% marks in English language
  •  3 or 6 Months Deck / GP Rating course or Cadets course
  • 30 Months approved sea service as Deck Rating or 18 Months approved sea service as Deck Cadet / Rating with SSTP

Chief Mate - NCV

  • 12 Months Sea Service after obtaining NWKO (NCV) CoC
  • 9 Months Sea Service after Phase I
  • Phase I (NCV) Attendance Certificate or CoC as Mate

Master - NCV

  • CoC as Chief Mate (NCV)
  • Sea service of 12 months after obtaining Chief Mate (NCV) CoC
  • 36 Months sea service after obtaining NWKO (NCV) CoC
  • The duration of 36 months will be reduced to 30 months, if sailed as Chief Officer for 12 months after obtaining Chief Mate (NCV) CoC

Second Mate

  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • (Pre-Sea Training as Deck Cadets) One year Pre-Sea Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc Nautical Science
  • 18 months Sea Service

OR

  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • Pre-Sea Training as Deck Cadets
  • 24 months Sea Service

OR

  • Minimum 60% in 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • 3 years B.Sc Degree in Nautical Science
  • 12 months Sea Servi
  • 12th Science (PCM) and 50% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • 6 months Pre-Sea Training of GP Rating
  • 36 months Sea Service

Chief Mate FG

  • 9 Months Sea Service after obtaining 2nd Mate (FG) CoC
  • 9 Months Sea Service after obtaining 2nd Mate (FG) CoC
  • Phase I (FG) Attendance Certificate

Master - FG

  • CoC as Chief Mate (FG)
  • Sea service of 12 months after obtaining Chief Mate (FG) CoC
  • 36 Months sea service after obtaining 2nd Mate (FG) CoC
  • The duration of 36 months will be reduced to 30 months, if sailed as Chief Officer for 12 months after obtaining Chief Mate (FG) CoC

SALOON DEPARTMENT

6 MONTHS CERTIFICATE COURSE IN MARITIME CATERING

  • 6 Months Experience as Trainee GS
  • Minimum 40% in 12th from any stream and 40% in English language at 10th / 12th

ORIENTATION COURSE FOR CATERING PERSONNEL (OCCP)

  • 6 Months Experience as Trainee GS
  • Minimum 40% in English language at 10th / 12th
  • Candidates holding Diploma / Degree in Hotel Management from recognized and reputed board or the universities
